What a season! Team 359 competed in 5 competitions across 4 US States and 2 countries! Congratulations to Bowen Cassel, our Dean’s List Finalist Award Winner, and Jeff Bruno, our Woodie Flowers Finalist Award Winner! We are so proud of them and thankful for their contributions to our team. At the Hawaii Regional, we won the FIRST Impact Award, Tournament Champion, and Woodie Flowers Award in a single regional for the first time in our team’s history! We had a blast at the FIRST World Championship in the Johnson Division. Thank you to the students, mentors, volunteers, and teams for making this year unforgettable!

We returned from the COVID-19 pandemic, ready for a great season! We traveled across Hawai’i and the US mainland, participating in the Heuneme Port, Ventura County, Hawaii, and Utah Regionals. This season, our team won our first Chairman’s Award since becoming a FIRST Hall of Fame team in 2011! We had the amazing opportunity to compete at the 2022 FIRST World Championship in Houston, Texas and meet teams from across the globe. We also competed in two off-season events: Tidal Tumble and Chezy Champs! We’re so grateful to be back and can’t wait to compete again next year!

Although in-person competitions were still suspended, we had the opportunity to participate in the virtual FRC At-Home Challenges! We were thrilled to be named Skills Competition Winner of the Molybdenum Group and Recipient of the Industrial Design Award. The team celebrated Rhea Mae Arellano for becoming the Dean’s List Finalist Award Winner of the Pacific Region! We’re proud that she has been recognized for her exceptional hard work and dedication on behalf of Team 359. Fortunately, we had the opportunity to participate in our first in-person competition since the COVID-19 pandemic! We’re eagerly looking forward to jumping back into competition season next year!

After competing in our first competition of 2020 at the Los Angeles North Regional, our season ended abruptly due to COVID-19 while the team was on their way to their flight to Chinese Taipei for the Science Park Taichung Regional. Although our season was cut short, we regularly met through Zoom and Slack and continued to train incoming members. We are delighted to announce that our very own Mr. Randy Wood was recognized as a Woodie Flowers Finalist Award Winner. Generations of students are deeply grateful for his mentorship and support!

In 2019,. we had the opportunity to participate in 4 regional competitions! We had a blast at the Del Mar, Canadian Pacific, Hawaii, and Canadian Rockies Regionals! Congratulations to Lauren Yamamato for winning the FIRST Dean’s List Award! We are inspired by her passion for STEM and commitment to passing her knowledge on to the next generation of students. The team also competed at the FIRST World Championship in Houston, Texas where we placed 5th in the Roebling Division out of 67 teams from across the globe!

This season, we qualified for the FIRST World Championship by winning the Festival De Antique – Montreal, Hawaii, and Canadian Rockies Regionals! We were able to travel to Houston and compete with hundreds of teams from around the world! We ranked 10th out of 68 teams in the Hopper Division and made it to the quarterfinals as the Captain of the 7th Seeded Alliance. Team 359 had the wonderful opportunity to travel to China and compete in the Robotics Championship China & Qianjiang International Robotics Invitational. We are so thankful for this opportunity to network with other teams as we learn, grow, and inspire, together!
