SUSTAINABILITY PLAN

Partnerships have been established with an ever-growing list of sponsors to help offset sponsorships lost (especially due to the current COVID-19 Pandemic).  A large emphasis of our outreach program is looking to help other programs/teams in addition to ensuring the sustainability of our own program, feeder programs/schools, and relationships with our partners.  This includes participating in service projects for our community/businesses, participating in sponsorship activities, coordinating tours of our Robotics program, helping young children and the elderly, and coordinating joint-venture benefit fundraisers, performing public demonstrations, while advocating the mission of FIRST through many forms of public media.

technical binder

The technical binder serves as a document that allows for our team to document and follow each build season with an approach that helps guide us to a successful and innovative season lead by student leaders. Team 359 follows a set of critical attributes to manufacture a robot during the build season successfully. By following the Engineering Design Process, we can promote collaboration and produce quality mechanisms. Along with being prepared at all times, being mindful of each week’s time periods, paying close attention to detail, and consistently enforcing effective communication between all sub-teams. This allows us to create a technical binder for other teams and judges to learn about our robot.

FIRST Impact Award

The Inspiring Future Engineers binder comprises six different parts: profile, program, outreach, sustainability, impact, and appendix. The first section, profile, describe the location and community of Team 359. It also goes over the team’s current student and mentor roster along with the team’s history. The program discusses the STEM Learning Center syllabus for the current school year. As well as the program’s five different sub-teams (administration, construction, construction support, documentation, and outreach) and workflow. The outreach section goes over current and past outreach events the team has volunteered at within the community. Simultaneously, the Inspiring Future Engineers binder’s sustainability portion explains the team’s financial statements and expense reports. The impact segment details how Team 359 has changed and influenced the individual student, the Waialua community, and Hawaii’s overall state. With a list comprised of students from 2000-currently and their career options, many leads towards STEM-related fields. Lastly, the binder’s final section is the appendix, which features the various times the Hawaiian Kids have been featured within newspapers and magazines like The Honolulu Star Advertiser, North Shore News, etc.
