2020-2021

2020-2021 Build Season

Week One

Aloha! Welcome to the first week of the 2021 Infinite Charge Build Season. This week the Construction team has been working in the Machine Shop to improve the indexer after taking it apart while fixing the wiring for the climber and putting together the turret. We also used the water jet to cut many pieces for the robot. Along with that, the programming subdivision worked on the overall functioning of our robot, the autonomous program, the terminated wires, the spin dexter, and began working on a new AI camera. The Documentation team continues to take pictures and videos to update the website as well for our January monthly video. They have also been working on the Chairman’s Award executive summaries and updating the binders, business plans, and grant applications. Along with updating the website they have been working on editing the Presidential Video. Check back next week as we go through our second week of Build Season.

Week Two

This week the Hawaiian Kids continued to work diligently throughout the day. In the Machine shop, they continued to CAD pieces for the robot, and assemble the pieces created. The programmers tested out their camera to make sure it is working properly, fixed up their code, and tested their autonomous. Documentation continued to take hourly pictures and videos to update the website, filed our Presidential Award Lesson Video, gathered and put together clips for the January video, and worked on the Charimans and Woodie Flowers awards. This week we celebrated Mr. Lee’s 50th Birthday! However, we made sure to work hard all day in order to celebrate after. Documentation made sure to capture Mr. Lee’s surprise celebration which included cake and a sweet video of old alumni and current students. Come back to see what the Hawaiian Kids have been doing!

Week Three

This week the Hawaiian Kids were busy in our Machine shop adding the springs for our robot’s climber while continuing to CAD pieces. Our control systems continued to work on their autonomous and on the coding for the robot. The Construction team has been taking apart and reassembling pieces of our robot along with working on various machines. Documentation continued to capture our teams progress as well as film our January Video recap. They also continued to work on the presentation for the Chairman’s award by putting together slides while also being busy updating the website, editing the January Video recap, Chairman’s award video, and working on the Woodie Flower’s essay.

Week Four

Week 4 flew by and Team 359 was hard at work in each respective subdivision. This week programming worked on their new AI cameras, and their autonomous code. Construction continued to CAD pieces for our robot, assembling, and testing them. Documentation worked on finalizing our website, Chairman’s Award presentation, Chairman’s Award video, and executive datey and sustainability binders. Construction support has been using our machines such as the water jet, and CNC Mills to create parts for the robot. As we come closer to the final week, we continue to make sure that everything is beginning to work smoothly and everything is on track. Read back next week to see how our 5th week of build season goes.

Week Five

Welcome to the 5th week of Build Season. This week the Documentation team was busy editing the January monthly video, as well as getting clips for the Chairman’s award video. They have also been getting their presentation ready for the Chairman’s award and have been working on the Woodie Flowers Award essay. The programming team has been working on coding for the robot and making sure the cameras and wiring are working. The Construction team was busy on the water jet, CNC mills, and lathe cutting the pieces for our team CAD. On Saturday our team was busy working on gathering interviews and clips for our AFCEA video. AFCEA is an annual event our team always attends however, this year is a little different due to COVID so we must submit our project via video.

Week Six

By the end of Week 6, our Documentation subteam finished up filming and editing our AFCEA video. They also worked on their Chairman’s Award presentation and finishing their website.  In the machine shop, our Construction team continued to CAD pieces for our robot and also deconstruct old robots for parts while also working on perfecting their lift and shooter so it can be tested by the programmers. Along with the shooter, the programming team worked on the spin dexter, having much trial and error to get into the high shoot, as well as the autonomous code and camera. The construction support continues to work on to CAD more pieces for the robot.

WEek seven

Week 7 was a very busy week for our team and we made sure to work diligently. After many trial and errors over the past 6 weeks we decided to start from scratch and create a new robot. In the auto shop our construction subteam got to taking apart our old robot. Our construction team got busy brainstorming new ideas and spent most of their time CADing new pieces for our robot. When they finished CADing a piece they cut them out to later be assembled. The documentation team has been busy submitting awards and videos as well as continuing to work on the Chairman’s award presentation. Control systems continued to perfect their autonomous code so when the robot is finished being assembled they will be able to test it.

Week eight

The 8th week of Build Season was once again a busy one. Since we decided last week that our robot had to be re-built, this week was a vital time for our team to work to get back to where we were. This week we started cutting out pieces on our water jet, mills, and lathe and constructing them with our 3-D printer. The programmers worked on perfecting their autonomous for the upcoming skills presentation. Documentation submitted the robot award and continued to take pictures for weekly updates on our website. They also started creating a yearly summary video including what we have done this past school year, our mentors, and our students.

Week nine

This week was tough for our team because there was a flash flood in Haleiwa. The North Shore had to evacuate and stay at home, making our team lose a full day of work. However we got right back to it on Thursday! Our construction support team worked on cutting out new parts for our improved robot design. The programming team continued to test out new codes as well as perfecting their autonomous for the skills presentation. Documentation practiced for their upcoming chairman’s award presentation while putting the final touches on our binders and website.

Week ten

Week 10 of the 2021 infinite recharge build season has flown by and our team has made sure to work hard in each respective subdivision. Documentation has been working on perfecting their chairmans award presentation coming up next week. They also have been working on the website and capturing the engineering process through photos and videos. Programming continued to work on wiring for the robot. Construction continued to CAD pieces for the robot as well as cutting any new pieces.

Week eleven

This week was a busy week for our team members as we are winding down the season. Our construction team has been cutting out final pieces and assembling and testing the spin dexter. The programming team has been working on improving our shooter by adjusting the shooter by adjusting the shooter, accelerator, and spin dexter PIDS. We also recently wired and put in the pneumatic tubing for the robot so that we can practice driving and also work on skills. Documentation continued to update the website and record the building process. They also worked on their chairmans award slides and presentation which they will be presenting next week.

Week twelve

We are now in our 12th week of the 2021 Infinite Recharge build season and our team has been busy at work testing and adjusting our robot to become competition ready. This week the documentation team were busy in preparation for their Chairmans Award presentation which they gave on Saturday. Documentation also took pictures and videos to capture the engineering process and updated our website. In the machine shop students have been helping to finalize pieces for the robot as well as peer to peer mentor new students by teaching them how to use machines and CAD. The programming students tested and adjusted the shooter mechanism to make sure it is working properly.

Week Thirteen

We are in the final stretch now in the 13th week and completing some of the final touches to our projects each subdivision is working on. We finished the robot skills challenge with high scores all thanks to certain students who stayed late to get it done. Thank you to our award presenters for representing our team in a professional manner. From now on our team is focusing on the v3 robot, entrepreneurial projects, and other initiatives!

Week Fourteen

Week 14 of the 2021 Infinite Recharge build season had many late nights trying to finalize our robot. This week our programming students were hard at work with finishing touches on our autonomous.
