Week One
Aloha! Welcome to the First week of the 2022 RAPID REACT Build Season!
Check out our Week One recap on Youtube!
Day 1: Kick-Off
It’s the beginning of a brand new Season and this year’s game is called Rapid React. Our team hit the ground running, already having a design in mind allowing us to get a head start. Construction team is hard at work CADing and fabricating the parts necessary for the base frame of the robot. Meanwhile, Control Systems is busy getting their wiring ready for any early testing and prototypes that come their way. The Documentation team took pictures and videos to capture everything along the way. Here’s to the start of a new Season!
Day 2
The Construction team has been hard at work CADing the robot for the season and cutting parts for this year’s playing field. While the Construction team worked on the robot and playing field, Control Systems worked on preparing the batteries for this season and worked on programming the base functionality for the drivetrain. The Documentation Team is preparing for a recap of this exciting first week of Build Season, taking pictures and videos that will be used for a video that will be released at the end of the week!
Day 3
Our team has made progress as the Construction team began cutting wood parts for practice field hang assembly. They are also continuing the Robot CAD design for the intake and shooter. Control Systems efficiently mapped out the field with tape, making the process of placing the soon to be finished game structures much easier. The Documentation team published a build season page on the website with daily updates and started to brainstorm ideas for the Chairman’s Award video.
Day 4
This first week of build season is flying by! The Construction team has continued working on practice field elements and a Robot CAD design for the prototype intake. Our Documentation team took videos and photos of Control Systems and Construction working together to design, assemble, and test a prototype shooter. Continuing to test the velocity, acceleration, and trajectory for a more efficient target aim in any robot position.
Day 5
Its Day 5 and with a new day comes even more designing, testing, and brainstorming new ideas! Our Construction team has continued working on field elements and a prototype intake CAD design. Our Control Systems team, with the help of our Construction team, has worked on testing and adjusting the prototype shooter to work more efficiently. Documentation has been working on taking photos and videos along with continuing to brainstorm ideas for the Chairman’s Award video.
Day 6
Today our team working hard to continue designing and testing robot components. Our Construction team has been working on cutting parts for the field and continuing to CAD design an intake. Control Systems have been working hard on the prototype shooter, testing the robot position, trajectory, velocity, and acceleration. Documentation has continued to brainstorm ideas for the Chairman’s Award video along with taking and editing photos and videos of our students and mentors!
Day 7
Day 7 of our build season consisted of continued work by each subdivision. Construction continued designing and assembling an intake and shooter along with continuing construction of the playing field. Control systems continued work on drive code and implemented it into the drive train. They also tested a prototype shooter and finished making the can coders. Documentation began compiling photos and videos from throughout the week for a video that will be released at the end of the week!
Day 8
On Day 8 our team has been working hard and making progress with the prototype shooter! Construction continued cutting and moving parts for the field set-up, along with continuing to CAD a prototype intake and shooter design for testing. Control Systems continued working on the prototype shooter and drive code focusing on fixing any major bugs concerning the pivot and continuing to work on the shooter trajectory, velocity and acceleration. Documentation has been busy taking photos and videos as well as filming and editing the first week update video, which will be uploaded on Monday, January 17!
