CANADIAN PACIFIC REGIONAL

MARCH 2025

For Week One of FRC competitions, our team headed out to Vancouver, BC, Canada, for the Canadian Pacific Regional alongside 49 other teams. Reuniting with other FRC teams in Canada will allow us to catch up with teams from previous years! It provided a strong start to the season with so many talented teams and a fantastic opportunity to challenge our students with our new robot as we delve into the competition!

PRACTICE DAY

The tournament began with teams racing to their pits and preparing their robots to be inspected before practice matches. Each team heads over to the fields to calibrate their robots to ensure they are ready to compete. Practice matches begin with teams excited to test their robot capabilities as teams make adjustments to their robots. Our team participated in practice matches with our new driver and operator, getting a feel for the field and robot. During practice matches, our scouters interviewed teams at their pits to gather information about teams' robots for scouting data. Once practice matches were over, we returned to the pits to make final adjustments and prepare our team for the next day of the competition and qualification matches.

QUALIFICATION MATCHES

As we headed into the venue for the second day of the event, our team headed over to the stands for the opening ceremonies before heading right into qualification matches, playing alongside two other robots against another alliance as both teams worked to score more points. For each match, our team worked with our alliance partners to figure out the best strategies for heading into the match, assuring that we could counter the opposing alliance's strategies thanks to the data gathered from our scouts! With plenty of close calls, our students worked hard to challenge the opposing alliances, scoring as much coral as possible on each reef level as we worked with our alliance. By the end of each match, our team returned to the pit to review and make any necessary adjustments to the robot and strategy, preparing for the next game. Simultaneously, our scouters were hard at work, keeping track of robots and methodically entering data for our scouting data to review before the third day of the competition. Once qualification matches were over, we all returned to our pit to prepare our strategy for alliance selection with our drive team and scouts going over the data! With absolute determination, our team was proud to end qualification matches with a record of 10-0-1 (Win-Lose-Tie), ranking 1st place overall!

CELEBRATING TEAM SPIRIT

As we headed onto the field for alliance selection, we took the mantle of captains for the first seed alliance! We joined forces alongside Team 4270: Crusaders and Team 8339: Penticton Robotics, forming an alliance and gathering to discuss our strategy heading into playoff matches. Heading into playoff matches, we began by playing against the 8th seed alliance, then against the 5th alliance, winning both matches. Unfortunately, we fell down to the lower bracket, but we climbed back to face off against the 2nd alliance where we won two out of the three matches played! After some close matches and great teamwork, we leveraged our skills to win the tournament! Our team also impressed the judges through our robot manufacturing and design, as we were awarded the Industrial Design, which showed our teams' consistent and reliable robot design!

ALLIANCE STRATEGY

Throughout the tournament, we met and strategized with teams, which allowed us to learn and grow through qualification matches. Thanks to the support and encouragement from our fellow FRC teams and head mentors coaching our drive team, we overcame our challenges and won the 2025 FRC Canadian Pacific Regional! Our team enjoyed meeting and competing with teams again, challenging our students, and building their skills and experiences. The lessons we learned over the weekend inspired us to continue improving and innovating, while the positive atmosphere fostered a spirit of camaraderie and collaboration.

IMUA WAIALUA!

As we packed up our pit and began our journey home, we noted adjustments and improvements we wanted to make for our robot to prepare for future competitions! The tournament was a great experience, and we met so many incredible teams with just as outstanding students; we are excited to see many of them at future regionals and world championships as we head back to our island home. Looking to the future, we are excited to embark on a new journey as we prepare for the Arizona North Regional with new encounters to challenge our students and bring the best from our team!
