ARIZONA NORTHERN REGIONAL
MARCH 2023
For Week 3 of FRC competitions, our team flew and drove to Flagstaff, Arizona for the Arizona Northern Regional alongside 40 other teams. It was our team's first time in Flagstaff, Arizona so it was a unique and new experience. We experienced freezing weather and met teams we had never before!
CELEBRATING TEAM SPIRIT
We collaborated with several other teams to share our FIRST Impact submissions and presentations, The FIRST Impact Award is an award celebrating teams that make an impact in their community, in STEM, and the world. After presenting our FIA presentation, teams among the Coconuts, last year's Worlds Impact Award winner, gave us generous feedback and encouragement. It was amazing to be able to share ideas and suggestions in such a positive environment, we learned a great deal from it!
ALLIANCE SELECTION
On day two, we attended the opening ceremonies and dove into qualification matches, collaborating with two other robots against opposing alliances. Our team strategized with alliance partners using data from our scouts to counter rival teams. Despite close calls, we effectively challenged opponents and scored points by working together. Between matches, we reviewed our performance, adjusted our robot and strategy, and collected scouting data. After qualification matches, our team proudly ranked 1st place with a 16-2-0 record and prepared for alliance selection.
PRACTICE DAY
The tournament kicked off with practice day. We began testing and preparing our robot for the practice matches ahead. As the tournament commenced, teams swiftly made their way to their designated pit areas to ready their robots to be inspected before the practice matches. The practice matches began, and teams were eager to see how their robots would perform. Our team took the chance to familiarize ourselves with the field and driving. With the conclusion of the practice matches, we regrouped at our pit, focusing on final tweaks and strategic preparations for the upcoming day's qualification matches.
QUALIFICATION MATCHES
During the competition, we discussed strategy with alliance partners before our matches. Taking advantage of previous information about the competing alliance to concoct a well-thought-out plan. When selecting teams for alliance selections, we considered our prior matches with each team to come to our picks. Our team ultimately selected 9432, Team 8-bit, and 7645, NK-MTC, for their consistent auto and impressive defense. We pushed through all the challenges and won the 2025 Arizona North Tournament! We could not have done it without the support of our mentors and other teams. There were so many remarkable teams in attendance and we want to thank them for their camaraderie!

FINALS
Regrettably, one of our alliance partner’s robots broke during the second match of the finals. We lost our second final match but still had a chance to turn it around in the third! During the third match, one of the competing alliance's robots was also stalled, making the playing field even. The tension in the room was palpable, no one knowing who would come home with the blue banner. At last, we won with a score of 90-88! We are so thankful!
