October 2024
On September 5th, 2024 Teams 359B, 359C, 3590C, and 3590D showed up at St. Louis High School, charged and ready!
Teams 359B, 359C, 3590B, and 3590D were buzzing with excitement as they arrived at West Oahu, eager to dive into the competition! Upon reaching their tables, the teams promptly prepared their robots for the necessary inspections. After passing with flying colors, they headed to the practice fields to fine-tune their robots' performance and capabilities. The atmosphere was electric, and our young competitors couldn't wait to showcase their hard work!
TEAM ARRIVAL AND PREPARATION
INTENSE MATCHES
This event gathered 20 teams from all over the island at St. Louis School, creating a fun and collaborative atmosphere. Everyone was excited to showcase their skills and engage in friendly competition. The venue was filled with energy as participants pushed their limits on the skills and competition fields. The enthusiasm was contagious, making it an unforgettable experience for all involved.
TEAM COLLABORATIONS
As Alliance Selection started, teams began considering Alliances and strategizing. At this time, we will be finding out which teams will be moving on to the Elimination rounds and who won't be. 359B, ranked 2nd seed, chose 3685D, Dreadnauts. 3590D, ranked 4th seed, chose 3590D. Lastly, 359C were chosen by 3008A, Team Magma as 8th seed. Unfortunately, 359C, 3590C and 3590D were eliminated in the Quarterfinals. Although they lost, the valuable strategies they learned will help them succeed in the future! 359B and 3685D moved on to Finals where they would be going against 96789X and 96789Z. Sadly, they lost. However, they kept their heads held high and knew they tried their best.
ALLIANCE SELECTIONS
Around midday, a memorable moment was formed when a team was in need of license plate stickers and team 359C was luckily able to lend it to them. Although this is a seemingly insignificant thing, if they didn’t have license plate stickers, they might not have been able to compete. We’re proud of Team 359C for showing comradery to fellow competitors!
TOUNRAMENT RESULTS AND CELEBRATIONS
As the eventful day came to a close, Team 359B secured 2nd place with an impressive score of 7-1-0 (win-lose-tie). 3590D clinched 6th place with a score of 5-3-0, 3590C 14th, and 359C 20th. In recognition of 359B’s in-depth engineering design processes, they won the think award! And thanks to 3590C’s well built robot, they won the build award! And although none of the teams won the overall competition, the teams took valuable lessons away from the experience and are excited to keep improving.
LOOKING AHEAD
Teams 359B, 359C, 3590B, and 3590D are so thankful for the chance to compete at St. Louis High school, and for the unwavering guidance and support from their mentors. All 359 VEX teams will not be competing for a while so we anticipate changes and improvements to their robots and strategies. We can’t wait to come back stronger and smarter on November 2nd, at Pearl City High School!
