BEACH BLITZ

FRC OFF-SEASON

NOVEMBER 2024

On October 30th, our team traveled to Capistrano Valley High School in Mission Viejo, California to compete in the 2024 Beach Blitz alongside 42 other teams from all around the state. This off-season was a bit different as we brought our 2024 in-season robot instead of our replica of 2910: Jack-In-The-Bot. We were excited for our new driver and operator to get experience with this robot before ending the 2024 FRC off-season!

QUALIFICATION MATCHES

Day two began qualification matches, where teams engaged in fierce competition against an opposing alliance to increase their overall rank in the tournament. Beyond the victories in individual matches, we gained important lessons through collaborating with our teammates and learning from their skill sets. Our dedication and diligence paid off as we ranked first, following the conclusion of qualification matches. Remarkably, our team obtained the most amount of ranking points from the ten matches played, ending with a record of 8-2-0 (Win-Lose-Tie). After the first day, we noticed a significant amount of brownouts happening while on field climbing. Our team worked with 5199: Robot Dolphins to obtain another motor so our students could replace it the next day before our last three qualification matches.

ALLIANCE STRATEGY

Throughout the tournament, our students met many new students from familiar teams alongside reconnecting with students from previous competitions! By speaking with other teams, we forge new friendships and create new memories with each other. Our team relished the opportunity to observe how other teams operate and enhance their students’ unique strengths. The invaluable lessons from the weekend of competition fields our drive to continue to innovate and excel.

LOAD IN & PRACTICE MATCHES

Our team headed over for practice day to set up our pit, robot, and participate in practice matches to test the robots capabilities. After setting up the robot radio and calibrating on the field, practice matches began with teams facing off against each other the same qualification matches were structured. As practice matches went on, our team worked with teams to strategize before each match then ended the night by packing up and organizing tools for the next day.

CONNECTING WITH TEAMS

As the qualification rounds concluded, alliance selections took center stage. We aligned with Team 4414: HighTide, Team 4079: Quantum Leap, and Team 4419: Team Rewind, collaborating as the 1st Seeded Alliance of the event. With roles and strategies finely tuned, we stepped into the playoffs against the eighth seed alliance, ready to face any challenge through unyielding teamwork and determination. Unfortunately, we lost our first playoff match, causing us to drop to the lower bracket where we resiliently faced off against our opponents before finally making it into the finals against the third seed alliance. After a nail biting finale, we won two finals matches to crown our alliance the champions of the 2024 Beach Blitz Tournament.

ENDING THE SEASON

As the tournament came to a close, we relished a well earned victory alongside our teammates! After working relentlessly to overcome any challenges we faced, we returned home proud with our triumphant victory, ending our 2024 off-season on a fantastic note. We extend our heartfelt commendations to teams that participated in the 2024 Beach Blitz competition as we are excitedly anticipating the 2025 FRC season to begin. As we prepare for the upcoming year, our students are working diligently to analyze our competition outcomes while beginning devising for Build Season within the coming weeks. Thank you for joining us during this wondrous season and a hui hou, or until we meet again!
