VRC HS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
FEBUARY 2023
On February 19-20, VEX VRC High School Teams 359B, and 359C competed at the 2023 Hawaii VRC High School Regional hosted at Kamehameha Schools, Kapalama.
PUSHING THROUGH
Excluding our own 2 high school teams, 32 other teams participated in this event. Each team competed in a total of 6 qualification matches. Once qualifications ended, both teams had a record of 6-0-0 with team 359 B being first and 359C being second.
FINALS!
As qualifications came to an end, teams 359B and 359C then analyzed the data gathered from the scouts and listed their top 10 alliance choices. As first in qualifications, Team 359B has allied themselves with Team 42700A, “Apple ” thus creating the First seed alliance. In second, Team 359C joined 42700X, from the Crusaders making up the second seed alliance. After Alliance Selections, teams gathered with their alliance partners and prepared for playoffs.
THE ARRIVAL
As our teams arrived, they began the preparation process for robot inspection and coming matches. Within this process, students debrief for judges interview questions, inspect robots for transportation damage, collaborate with upcoming qualification teammates and interview all teams for any possible alliance selections based off of robot designs, team strategies, and driver skills.
ALLIANCE SELECTIONS
Teams 359C and their partners 42700X made it up to the semi finals before elimination. However, team 359B and their alliance partners team 42700A advanced to the finals. Team 359B and 42700A then went on to compete against Teams 42700E and 96789Z losing to them 113 to 173 by 60 points.
AWARDS
Despite elimination in semifinals and finals, we are so honored to compete in this year’s VRC state championships! Team 359C won the Amaze Award and Team 359B has achieved the Excellence Award therefore earning themselves a spot in years VRC robotics world Championships! We hope to see these amazing teams again at worlds and can’t wait to compete with everyone!
