On October 8th, VEX VRC Teams 359B, 359C, 3590A, and 3590B Competed at the JR Searider VEX Robotics Competition hosted at Waiʻanae Intermediate School.
Pushing Through...
With 19 teams participating, including our own, teams competed in a total of 6 qualification matches each. After ending qualifications, Team 359C ranked 2nd with a score of 5-1-0 (Win -Lose-Tie) only being defeated once throughout all 6 matches! 359B ranked 9th with a score of 3-3-0, 3590A ranked 11th with a score of 3-3-0, and 3590B closely following behind with a score of 2-4-0 in 12th place.
Finals!
Unfortunately, Team 359C, 3590A, and 3590B and their alliance partners were eliminated during the quarterfinals. Team 359B and Team 3685B won their match in the quarterfinals and went onto win their match during the semifinals, leading them to compete against the finals against the 4th seed alliance. Although, Team 359B and Team 3685B lost their match by 69 points, eliminating them from the competition.

Once teams arrived at the venue, they began organizing tools and preparing for inspection before beginning qualifying matches. After passing inspection, we met with our qualification teammates to talk about strategies while preparing the autonomous and drivers for matches and skills. Scouts quickly began scouting teams and reviewing for their interview with judges!
Alliance selections
To prepare for alliance selection, each team reviewed notes from scouting to create a pick-list of their top teams from this event. Team 359C aligned with Team 96789Z, Mililani Mechs, as the 1st seed alliance and Team 359B aligned with Team 3685B, Searider Tech, as the 3rd seed. 3590A aligned with Team 2467J, Saber Dynamics, as the 5th seed alliance and Team 3590B aligned with Team 2459A, Golden Hawks Robotics, making the 6th seed alliance. Once alliance selection concluded, teams met with their alliance partners and began discussing strategy and prepared for playoffs.

Despite our teams loosing during the quarterfinals and finals, we are glad we had the opportunity yo compete at the Wai’anae Searider tournament with both our middle and high school teams while learning more about how we can improve within the time that we have. Although, Team 359C won design award and Team 359B won Excellence award! We hope to compete against these teams soon and can’t wait to attend our next tournament!
