VRC Middle School state championship

Bright and fresh, middle school teams 3590A and 3590B arrived at the readiness Center located in the Hawaii Army National Guard building 29. Kicking off the start of an amazing day, both teams quickly got situated and got their robots inspected. Thankfully, both robots passed in a breeze. As the day rolled on, the two teams excitedly discussed strategies that they could possibly use to win their matches and battle the long day of challenges lying ahead!

Dynamic Team Collaborations

One standout moment of team collaboration occurred during Qualification Match 11, when Team 3590B had the opportunity to partner with Team 27301A (RoboBots). Through effective communication and collaboration, the two teams worked seamlessly together and achieved the highest score of the entire competition – a remarkable 180 points compared to their opponents’ 52 points. This impressive result is a testament to the strong teamwork and cooperative spirit demonstrated by both teams.

By the end of this exciting day, Team 3590A placed 1st place with a record of 8-0-0 (win-lose-tie), and Team 3590B placed 3rd with a record of 6-2-0. In the finals, 3590B and 3590A went against 27301A and 27301D. Teams gathered around the field to witness the thrilling three-round final, where the competition was fierce and the tension palpable. In a nail-biting finish, Teams 3590A and 3590B ultimately emerged victorious in the tournament. When awards were presented, Team 3590A was honored with the Innovate Award and the 2nd Place Robot Skills Award. Congratulations to all the teams who participated in the tournament for their hard work and dedication!

Intense Matches

The atmosphere at the Readiness Center was charged with excitement as 16 teams from across Hawaii came together to engage in a frenzied dance of collaboration and competition. Drivers maneuvered their robots with precision, their fingers flying across controllers swiftly. Each alliance sought victory, bringing their intelligence to bear in a display of strategy and skill. The day was a dynamic and electrifying showcase of robotics prowess, leaving spectators breathless and eagerly anticipating the next round of competition.

Alliance selection and strategic planning

In a remarkable display of teamwork and skill, both teams soared to success, securing notable positions in the Alliance Selections. Team 3590A made it to 1st position, while Team 3590B closely followed at 3rd spot. This paved the way for a powerful alliance, as Team 3590A chose to join forces with Team 3590B, uniting their strengths for the upcoming challenges. As the competition intensified, the teams demonstrated remarkable synergy and determination. They navigated the field with precision and finesse, strategically positioning their robots to score triballs and secure points. Their unwavering focus was evident in every deft maneuver and calculated decision, showcasing their exceptional aptitude for collaboration and strategic thinking.

Teams 3590A and 3590B are thrilled to have had the opportunity to compete at the Middle School Hawaii Regional and collaborate with so many talented and exceptional teams. What an exciting day! We want to give a special shout-out to our incredible mentors who provided guidance and inspired them to persevere and ultimately triumph in the competition.
