VEX robotics is an international program that offers students the experience of solving real-world problems by applying science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Beyond science and engineering principles, VEX Robotics encourages teamwork, leadership, and problem solving. It offers the traditional challenge of a FIRST Robotics but with a more accessible and affordable robotics kit. Each year at the VEX World Championships, a new challenge is unveiled to VEX international teams across the world for the new season. Over the year, teams design, build, program, test and refine an autonomous capable of completing the VEX Competition.
At Waialua High and Intermediate School there are 5 teams: 359A, 359B, 3590A, 3590B, 3590C. Teams 359A and 359B are high school teams. Teams 3590A, 3590B and 3590C are middle school. We do transitional mentoring where the more experienced students teach the novice students the engineering process and what theyve learned over the past few years. Teams create engineering notebooks so when new students join the team they can search for design inspiration.
