Waialua Robotics Banner

Waialua High and Intermediate School is a proud recipient of a R.E.A.C.H. (Resources for Enrichment, Athletics, Culture, and Health) grant that supports after-school programs for middle school students. On March 9, 2017 local comedian Augie T and Senator Gil Riviere visited Waialua High and Intermediate School and see firsthand how their grant has benefitted Waialua middle school students.  

First they started at band. Mr.Cablay and band students practiced music for their upcoming performance. They were all very excited to see and play for our guests. Next, they visited our robotics facilities. VEX IQ Team 359A were proud to explain what VEX IQ is all about, from the design to the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) project to the competition.  Team 359A explained how they use graphic art skills to present their STEM research project and how their research ties into engineering. Then they demonstrated how their robot drives and plays crossover. The VEX IQ team also proudly showed their VEX IQ promote video. They let Augie T and Senator Riviere that we won 2nd place worldwide! They also visited C building to learn more about VEX. Along the way they visited our documentation team who showed them our binders and banners. Lastly they visited the auto shop and got a taste of our waterjet. Augie T and Senator Riviere were very impressed with our after school robotics program and hope to be able to offer similar programs state wide.
