On March 30th to April 1st, the Waialua Robotics team competed in the 10th annual Hawaii Regional at the University of Hawaii in Manoa. This was the third and last regional the Hawaiian Kids were going to participate in before Worlds. On practice day, the team worked out problems that came up with programming, along with coming up with better strategies to use during the competition. Other team members helped set up the pit area and prepared to talk to judges and share about the program.

Qualification matches were tough for team 359. The team finished qualifications with a record of 9 wins and 7 losses and ranked #7. On the last day of the regional, Team 359 was the #1 alliance and the team captain with Team 368 - Team Kika Mana and Team 2439 - Bearbotics. The alliance easily flew through quarterfinals. Unfortunately, after a malfunction with 368’s robot caused the alliance to not beat their opponents in the semifinals. At the award ceremony, Team 359 didn’t win any awards. This competition was a great learning experience for the students by helping them understand what needs to be worked on. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible and to all the teams who tried their best. Next stop, Worlds!
