On September 12 and 13 the Hawaiian Kids hosted and competed in the North Shore Middle School VEX tournament. The event was held in the Waialua robotics facilities and the members that were not competing were volunteering to aid in the success of the tournament. Friday started out with setting up the tournament, and then opened up to teams who were prepared to check in. Friday was also the day on which teams could make use of the open skills challenge field.

Saturday came bright and early for the team. Doors opened at 7:30 so the team arrived at 6:30 to make sure everything was in order. Starting at 9:00 was a hectic series of qualification matches for the teams to earn their seed into the elimination matches. The Waialua Intermediate Teams ended up seeding 3rd, 6th, and 9th, out of a deep field of competition. 3590A was picked to be on the first seeded alliance with 394. 3590B was selected by team 4400. 3590C picked up team 4109. All three alliances made into the semifinals with 3590A even getting a bye. 3590C unfortunately lost to 3590B who faced 3590A in the finals. The finals consisted of two close matches with 3590A and 394 ending up victorious. 3590A also won the excellence and robot skill awards. Cody Miyitaki was fortunate enough to win the volunteer of the year award. It was a successful tournament and we hope to see all the teams next year!
