After such a busy week and season for The Hawaiian Kids, it was time to celebrate it with our many sponsors, family and friends at the fourth annual Dole Robotics Luau. Just like the past three years, it was held at Dole Plantation where there were two tents; one to showcase each FLL, VEX, and FRC team and their achievements and the other tent for all the attendees and sponsor tables where they were able to eat the onolicious Hawaiian food and watch the program that Team 359 had prepared for this event. Arriving at Dole on the Thursday afternoon, The Hawaiian Kids with the help of Dole set up for the extraordinary event later that evening. After a few hours of setting up our showcase tent and tables, it was time to start the show. As a few members of the team greeted guests, other explained our Waialua Robotics program. In our showcase tent, it included all of the robots from each team, and the numerous banners and trophies we had won in the 2010-2011 season. Later other members from our team helped served the Hawaiian food provided by Dole to all of our sponsors, family and friends. After dinner was served, it was time for the set program to begin. At the fourth annual Dole Robotics Luau, head mentor, Mr. Lee, emceed and we got to show our sponsors the Award winning Championship Chairman’s Video, our end of the year video, both made by our robotics video team, and two of the five seniors, Chadwick Ulep and Kortney Pao, were able to make a speech about what robotics has done for them throughout the four years they were on the team. By the end of the night, The Hawaiian Kids were presented with yet another $10,000 check from Dole. We are all very grateful for all of the supporters and sponsors we have had for our 12 years of existence. So thank you to Dole all of our sponsors, and all of those who attended this event, for it was an unforgettable evening. |
